Growing, growing, growing!

I just wanted to send you all a picture of Rachel. She was 5 months old on Easter Sunday and she had on the cutest dress from her Gramma Gloria. We have been taking her picture every month and putting it in her baby book along with her measurments and weight. I want to keep track of all of this for her so that she has an up-to-date book. Hope you are all well and enjoying the day. We have a beautiful sunshiny day today...I'm going for a walk as soon as Rachel gets up from her nap.

Easter Blessings

We had a wonderful Easter with family. We travelled south and got to see Rachel's Great Aunt Roxie. Easter weekend was spent with Chris' family. Rachel got to see all her Great Aunts and Uncles, her Great Grandparents and Grandparents as well as all her cousins (four boys) as Chris' brother and his wife were there. We went to Good Friday and Easter Sunday services and celebrated the resurrection of our Lord. The church did drama presentations of the crucifixion and resurrection. It was such a good reminder of what Christ did for us on the cross and that He is indeed alive! Halleluiah!!
We really enjoyed our time away but are really glad to be home. Rachel was so excited to see all her toys; it has been like Christmas here the last two days. She is becoming more vocal and shrieks in delight at just about everything. I was talking to a friend on the phone and I had to go into the kitchen because Rachel was screeching and talking so loud in the living room that I couldn't hear anything. Our neighbors next door could even hear her because we had the kitchen window open. I am going for a walk in the river valley with a friend tomorrow. It is supposed to be 26 degrees here tomorrow.
We are going to start our garden soon. I have flower seeds to plant and hopefully the weather will stay nice enough to start cleaning out the flower beds and getting the ground ready for a vegetable garden. It will be nice to get out in the soil and watch things grow.
Have a good day everyone!

Ramblings

Today has been a long day! I have been up since 6am and have been going hard ever since. Rachel has been very clingy today...probably due to her 4 month needles yesterday. She had no fever or irritability; Praise the Lord! However, she got really sleepy about an hour after her needles and slept through the night. I slept through the night too except I was up around 3am to check on her. I have been feeding her rice cereal for a week and she seems to like it okay. Her reaction was so hilarious the first time she had it. She screwed up her face as if to say, "What is this stuff?!" I put her in the Jolly Jumper today. She had fun hanging there and squealed with delight. She hasn't figured out that she needs to jump.
When we go south next week we will be seeing some extended family members that we haven't seen for a while. I am looking forward to seeing my aunt as I haven't seen her since our wedding five years ago; she played the piano. We will be with Chris' aunt and uncle for dinner one night and also with friends who just moved to Calgary. We will be with Chris' family for Easter. His brother and family as well as all his aunts, uncles, cousins and their families, and his grandparents will all be there. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again and to remember the reason why we are gathering...the death, burial and most importantly the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
May you have a wonderful time with your families this Easter time.

Sleeping Beauty

What a day! We have been up and running around since 6:30am. At 8am I had to take the car in for an oil change before our trip south for Easter. They found that something was wrong with the right front axle which needs to be replaced. I then met my friend and her little girl at the mall for coffee at 9:30am. We wandered around and looked in Gymboree and Please Mum. At noon I met Chris at his office for lunch and didn't get home until after 1pm. Rachel was all tuckered out and slept in her car seat for 45 minutes when we got home. She looked so cute that I just couldn't help taking her picture. Enjoy!

Rachel Elinor

Just wanted to send a picture of our little one. I am still figuring out how this blog thing works, so hopefully when you get this you will see Rachel....blah, blah, blah. :)

Musings

I have been sitting downstairs watching our little girl sleep and I am overwhelmed by the thought that I am now mother. I have always wanted to be one and it has happened. Rachel is so beautiful and she is such a good baby. She is almost 5 months and I just can't believe that the time has gone by so fast. Today was such a beautiful day and so I took her in the stroller for her first walk in the River Valley. She was awake for most of the time looking around at trees and the sky and "talking". Talking is a relatively new thing. We just spent 10 days with my family in Manitoba and she has been talking ever since. She would sit at the table for meal times with all the adults in a little chair my mom had and squeal and make lots of noise like everyone else. She was very proud of herself especially since one little squeak would get everyone's attention. She has been laughing too and her little giggle and shrieks of delight have been such a reminder to me of finding joy in the little things; like finding out that your toes wiggle :) .
I am really enjoying being at home with her. My days are a lot slower and I can't just run off and do stuff, which is probably good for me. I love my days out with my friends who have kids Rachel's age. It is so good for me to have that time. Last night Chris sent me on a date to Starbucks all by myself. I got a Mochaccino and took a book to read for an hour. What a treat! I am realizing that I need to take care of myself; if I am in a healthy place then the time I spend with my little girl is much better.
Anyway, enough for today...stay tuned for more musings...
