Feeding Myself!

We have had hot, hot weather and now cold and rainy! The garden is growing and we have been picking beans and peas every other day. The house is down to 20 degrees and it has been raining pretty much all day. We have had to purchase a new car seat for Rachel; it is a 3-in-1 car seat that will change from a rear facing to forward facing to booster seat up to 80 pounds. We will be able to put the other one away for the "next baby"...no, I'm NOT expecting!
It was nice to be in church this morning...although I am looking forward to being able to sit through a whole message. I enjoy the music and the time spent with other believers. I have resorted to listening to our Christian radio station and hearing Chuck Swindol, David Jeremiah and John McArthur. All very good, so I do get a message every morning of the week.
Rachel has been feeding herself lately. She likes to have the spoon and she likes to pick bits of bread off of the tray. The picture is her eating peas. They were fresh from the garden and she liked those better than the ones in the jar...fresh is best!! I got a book from Chapters on how to make homemade baby food. So far, Rachel likes all the things I have given her.
I went and had my blood checked last week. I have been really tired lately and have been feeling kind of down. At first I thought it might be some depression, but the Dr. doesn't think so. He says it might be my thyroid. I guess sometimes hormone levels can change during pregnancy and alter how the thyroid is functioning. I will find out tomorrow what is up...if anything.
Have a good week...enjoy the photo.

8 months old!

Rachel is now 8 months old! She is sitting up lots and rolling all over the house. She constantly surprises us by what she can do. We had our first Music Together class this morning. Rachel loved it. There were lots of other kids there and some were dancing to the music. She clapped her hands and laughed at them. There were slow songs, fast songs, songs with instruments, calling songs, drumming/rhythm and dancing. I had fun too!! Who needs a gym membership. We have 5 more weeks and then fall session starts. I have already decided that we will enroll her for the fall. It will be a chance for me to get out one morning a week. The teacher was great...very animated. She interacted with the kids and they all just seem to love her. I should run. We are helping friends of ours load the moving van this afternoon, so I have to feed Rachel and get ready to go. Have a super-de-douper day!!

Summer Heat!

It is 34 degrees today. We are sweltering, but are thankful for our basement which is a bit cooler than upstairs. We have actually been sleeping downstairs the last few nights. I went to the mall today to be in the air conditioning. Chris also bought a kiddie pool and Rachel and I have been hanging out in it in the back yard. On Monday we went to the Churchill Square for the afternoon with some friends to wade in the fountain. The water was really cold, but it was so refreshing. We went to Second Cup after for cold drinks. The next few weeks are supposed to be about the same tempurature-wise; maybe we will have to get a family pool pass. Attached is a picture of Chris and Rachel at the fountain. Enjoy!
