Coastal Trip

We just got back tonight from the west coast. What a wonderful trip! We arrived in Vancouver on Wednesday and auntie Pam met us at the airport. Our days were packed full of many exciting adventures. We went to Granville Island for the rest of the afternoon on Wednesday and visited. On Thursday Pam took us to Seattle, where we shopped at a wonderful outlet mall. Friday was a family day. We went to Stanley Park, ate from a hotdog vendor for lunch, waded in the ocean, walked through the forest of red wood trees and generally relaxed together. Saturday we travelled with uncle Jim and auntie Pam and cousin Neil to Steveston; a really neat little town right on the ocean. We wandered down the docks to see what the fishermen were selling. That night we went over to the "coastal cousins" place for bar-b-qued salmon and a visit. I got to meet two of Chris' cousins who were unable to come to our wedding. On Sunday we went to Victoria on the ferry. Very cool! We saw an orca pod. Absolutely fascinating!! We also got to have lunch with Chris' great aunt and uncle and we got to visit Buchart Gardens. On Monday we had to recuperate. We were all so very tired and it was so very hot. Tuesday we laid low again and went hiking in Lynn Canyon with Chris' cousin Marnie and her friend Bill. uncle Jim and aunt Pam babysat Rachel 2 nights so that we could go out for dinners. What a special treat. All in all it was a good holiday, but we are so tired and are looking forward to sleeping in our own beds.

7 Months Old!

Wow! It is so hard to believe that in five short months our little girl will be one. Okay, I won't think about that! We went walking this morning in the rain. What a beautiful day. It is hot a humid, but the rain is keeping it cooler.
It rained hard last night and we got a bit of water in the basement. There was water pooling around the foundation and the water was dripping in where the gas line enters the house...weird. Anyways, it wasn't much water and we found where it was coming in almost right away so we were able to deal with it and we didn't have to call a plumber. Thank the Lord!
We are getting ready for our trip out west. Rachel got her passport the other day so we can go to the States to shop. :) Its so funny that both Chris and I didn't have our passports till we were in our 20s and here our daughter who is only 7 months old has one!
Well, have a joyous day with family and friends and a wonderful weekend.
TTFN,
Rebekah

Sitting up!

Hello everyone! Our little girl is sitting up with help!! She is growing up entirely too fast. We are getting ready to go to the west coast for a holiday. I am really looking forward to being away. We are going to visit some family and see some of the sights, shop, eat out and spend some time by the ocean. Rachel will be seeing some family members for the first time; she will probably be sitting up totally by herself by the time we get back. Enjoy the picture of her sitting on our couch.

Gardens

We planted our garden on the May long weekend. Peas, beans, carrots, tomatos, corn, cucumbers, and rhubarb were among the plants we put in. It was a hot day when we planted and the next week or so was wet and rainy. Very good for gardens. We started hoping for warmer weather so the seeds wouldn't rot in the ground. The sun started to shine and now tiny plants are pushing their way up towards the sun. Weeds have to be pulled...interestingly enough a lot of the weeds that come up look a lot like the actual plants. I read somewhere that some weeds can actually adapt themselves to look like vegetables so as to fool the gardener and allow them to continue growing. Isn't it amazing how our lives are like gardens? Much like the parable of the sower, the Gardener plants the seed of His Word in our hearts. Right conditions are needed for the Seed to grow. Reading the Word of God and praying, listening to God, spending time with other believers are all essential to growth and development. We need to weed and tend the garden of our hearts so as not to allow the evil one to creep in and allow sins and deceptions, including unbelief to become common-place and start to take over our lives. It is so easy to allow this to happen, busy-ness takes over and we push aside disciplines that are essential to our very survival. Be encouraged to spend time with the Lord today.
